(National Week of Prayer & Fasting 6th - 19th January)
Focus Scriptures
"But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." – Isaiah 40:31
Renewed Strength in Waiting
Day 4 of our prayer and fasting journey focuses on the power of waiting on the Lord. In a world that values speed and instant results, waiting can feel like weakness. But Isaiah 40:31 reveals that waiting on God is a source of strength. Those who place their hope in the Lord are promised renewal, empowerment, and endurance.
Waiting on God is not passive; it’s an active posture of trust, prayer, and expectation. It is in these moments of waiting that God strengthens our faith, deepens our dependence on Him, and prepares us for what lies ahead. Just as an eagle soars with ease on thermal winds, those who wait on the Lord are lifted above challenges, carried by His power.
If you’re in a season of waiting—for answers, breakthroughs, or direction—remember that God is never late. Trust His perfect timing, and let His strength sustain you.
The Discipline of Waiting
Waiting requires patience, discipline, and a commitment to spiritual practices like prayer and fasting. Jesus emphasized the importance of fasting as a way to draw closer to God (Matthew 6:16-18). When we choose to fast, we quiet our flesh and align our hearts with God’s will.
Psalm 27:14 reminds us to wait on the Lord with courage and strength, trusting that He will bring the breakthroughs we need. Waiting is not wasted time; it’s a period of preparation, refinement, and renewal.
