(National Week of Prayer & Fasting 6th - 19th January)
Focus Scriptures
"Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit." – Galatians 5:25
Empowered by the Holy Spirit
On Day 2 we turn our focus to the power of the Holy Spirit. Galatians 5:25 reminds us that our lives as believers are sustained and guided by the Spirit. The Christian life is not one we live in our strength but by relying on the Holy Spirit, who empowers, transforms, and leads us in God’s will.
The Holy Spirit is not a distant presence; He dwells within us (John 14:16-17). He is our helper, counselor, and source of power. Walking in step with the Spirit means being attuned to His voice and responsive to His leading in every area of life. It is in the Spirit’s power that we overcome challenges, bear lasting fruit, and boldly impact the world for Christ.
Living in Step with the Holy Spirit
To live in the Spirit’s power is to cultivate sensitivity to His voice and a readiness to follow His direction (Romans 8:14). This requires intentionality—spending time in prayer, meditating on God’s Word, and yielding to the Spirit’s prompting.
As we surrender more of ourselves, the Spirit produces His fruit in us, which is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). These are not just traits to aspire to but evidence of God’s transformative power at work in our lives.
