Day 48
Prayer of the Day:
Lord, sharpen my conscience to discern between good and evil. Help me to live with wisdom and make choices that honor You. Strengthen my heart to resist temptation and walk in Your truth, reflecting Your love and righteousness. Amen.
Scriptures of the Day:
Proverbs 5:3-5 – "For the lips of an adulteress drip honey, and her speech is smoother than oil; but in the end she is bitter as gall, sharp as a double-edged sword."
Mark 3:4 – "Then Jesus asked them, 'Which is lawful on the Sabbath: to do good or to do evil, to save life or to kill?' But they remained silent."
Exodus 21:23-24 – "But if there is a serious injury, you are to take life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth..."
Sharpen Your Conscience
Jesus' question in Mark 3:4 urges us to choose between good and evil. I once believed that without God, morality had no standard. However, Jesus reveals that there is a moral order and that we can discern right from wrong through Him. Proverbs 5:3-5 warns us that sin often appears appealing, but its consequences are bitter. We must avoid temptation and stay aligned with God’s truth.
Jesus calls us to choose good, as seen in His life. Our response to Him—whether we accept Him as Lord—has eternal consequences. Exodus 21:23-24 shows that God’s law promotes justice and fairness, teaching us to protect others and promote good in our communities.
Takeaway:
Understand the nature of good and evil through Scripture and sharpen your conscience.
Resist temptation, recognizing that sin often comes disguised as good.
Follow Jesus’ example in choosing to do good and live justly, reflecting His love.
