Day 47
Prayer of the Day:
Lord, help me to put first things first. Thank You that You have shown me what truly matters—loving You and loving others. May my priorities reflect Your heart. Teach me to live with wisdom, keep my eyes on what matters most, and walk daily in step with You. Amen.
Scriptures of the Day:
📖 Psalm 22:16–18 – “They pierce my hands and my feet... They divide my garments among them and cast lots for my clothing.”
📖 Mark 1:35 – “Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.”
📖 Exodus 20:2–3 – “I am the Lord your God... You shall have no other gods before Me.”
Put First Things First
There was a time I thought I had my priorities in order—but I didn’t. At a marriage conference, I was challenged to rank the priorities in my life. I placed “God” first, followed by “ministry,” “wife,” “work,” and “children.” I thought I had it right, but I later realized I had missed the heart of it.
True priorities, as God reveals, are not just about titles but about love and responsibility. God comes first—but not as a distant idea. He is the center of every other relationship and responsibility. Then comes our spouse, our children, our daily work, and only after these, our outward ministry. When our priorities align with God’s heart, we walk in peace, purpose, and power.
Jesus’ Priorities Point the Way
Mark 1 reveals Jesus’ daily rhythm: time with the Father, serving others, and preaching the good news. Even though crowds sought Him, He stepped away to pray. This shows us—relationship with God isn’t just the top priority; it is the source of all others.
His ministry flowed from His prayer life. He had compassion for the sick, time for tax collectors, and love for the lost. He didn’t neglect people, but He never allowed public demand to displace private devotion. His example calls us to live from the inside out, with God at the center.
A Holy Life Reflects Holy Priorities
In Exodus 19–20, God reminds the people of His love and deliverance: “I carried you on eagles’ wings… You will be my treasured possession” (Exodus 19:4–5). Then He gives the Ten Commandments—not as a burden, but a guide to holy and free living. The first four teach us to love God; the final six teach us to love others. Jesus summarized it simply: love God with everything, and love your neighbor as yourself.
Loving God isn’t just a feeling—it’s a lifestyle. It’s seen in how we spend our time, treat others, and handle responsibility. When we put first things first, everything else begins to fall into place.
💡 Takeaway:
🔹 Start with God—He is the source of wisdom, strength, and love.
🔹 Let your priorities reflect your love—for God, family, and others.
🔹 Follow Jesus’ example: begin with prayer, live with purpose, and lead with compassion.
